The B-25 is the one I'd go for. I've taken the stickers of an H-9 before. It's easy. And time and the odd mishap will take care of the rest.
Hey, since this started out as an O.S. engine thread can anyone answer this? I've got a second hand O.S. 91 surpass. Had 4 flights on it and dead sticked on the last flight. Zero compression. Suspected a stuck valve. Pulled her down and found a broken exhaust valve spring. Is this a weakness with this model engine, or is it more likely due to poor storage and rusty springs. The rest of the motor looks good. Gonna call Dean tomorrow and hopefully get springs only. If I have to get a valve set to get the springs, I'll have to consider getting a complete dressed head. |

Mike - yes...crazy, crazy busy this year.
Danny...Never seen anyone have a problem with an OS 4 stroke this side of crashing them. I've got 3 of them and love them.... including two 70's waiting for the right twin to come along.... In any case, parts are readily available Through Great Planes from your favourite hobby shop..a complete head is not that expensive (relatively speaking...) |

Awesome I'll call you as soon as I can. By the way, the Maniac flew very well. Some minor trim issues, but otherwise lots of fun. 8) :D _________________ There is no such thing as "spare change" |

That's good to know. I had nothing but grief with bearings in my Saito, so I'm giving OS a shot. I like the crankcase vent system on the OS 91. Can't understand why Saito doesn't do the same thing. The slime on my Ultra Stick from the Saito 72 was a real pain. The OS runs way cleaner.
How's the climate out there. It's been rainy out here, but no real snow.
You may remember one winter when a shover was worth it's weight in gold. Now I've got a couple collecting dust. I do kinda miss flying off a snow covered runway. (but a green one is even better)
Cheers

A lot depends on the type of fuel that you are using..Byron and Sig have way too much oil and gunk up pretty badly, while Cruel Power doesn't have enough and a lean run or a bit of moisture (unheard of in the lower mainland, I'm sure..) will will do serious internal damage....
I've got both Saito and OS 4 strokes and have never had problems with either (except for the one I crashed at Frys....)
The moisture here is pretty solid and white, and abounds in massive quantities. It stopped snowing this morning and the sun came out. It is supposed to warm up to +3 on Christmas day - I might be able to sneak out and go flying!!

Thanks Harv. I sent you an email. Make sure you hold them for me, I think Mike is going to try to scoop them up before I do.
I want to get the Extra up again soon. After I get her trimmed up properly, she'll be lots of fun. 8) _________________ There is no such thing as "spare change" |

Yes, the weather has improved out here as well. More sun these last few days. And has dried out considerably.
A friend gave me a Ultimate I'm just dieing to take for a flight. It's a Carl Goldberg kit and was built in 06 some time.I think there discontinued now so it's a bit of a classic now a days.I seen it fly last year and it flew well. It has a Saito 150s under the hood.I think that's plenty of power for the type of flying I do. It's not covered like this one but the design is the same.

Hold on a second. :? That's not a War Bird. I think you should let me have it. You should really enjoy that plane. 8) I understand that the Ultimate is a favorite for Bipe pilots. _________________ There is no such thing as "spare change" |

Hi Dan, If I use some imagination, some camo covering and maybe mount some 30cal. guns on the wings . It could become a War Bird. :)
But the previous owner may not approve. :? _________________ Any landing where you can still see your plane is a good landing. "really"... |

You may have something there. First minor hangar rash repair should be a good enough excuse to refinish her in full War Bird colours. Can you get operational guns? Heli makes a good target. Let me know when you maiden. I'd like to see her fly. _________________ There is no such thing as "spare change" |

Wayne, I hope that bird pumps water or generates power.
And now that the snow has melted off it maybe you can take it for a flight or two...
