Well I suppose that its not considered finished until it flie's and I'm fast approaching that time. It's now painted including the rudder and stripes on fuse and wings; now it's the small things to bring it to it's conclusion. Should have some pictures of the finished project in my album in a couple of day's. Like a soap opera there never seems to be an end.... _________________ JLDY |

looking forward to seeing it fly, John. Last time I saw it you were just starting to paint it.
A scale model is only finished when you decide to stop working on it. :)
Cheers, Dave. |

Yes the white was needed to get the yellow correct. A lot of painting and with Rick to guide me it all worked out well :) Now for the markings _________________ JLDY |

I wish I'd remembered to put white on before the yellow. Instead of lemon yellow it was more like goat vomit green (chartreuse)
Looking very good, John...you should be proud of that :D |

Thanks Rob. You know what it's like the more time you spend on it the more it seems like you gave birth to it . I still have to run the engine on the test stand to see how it works with my exhaust ring. And last but not least the nerve racking first flight . _________________ JLDY |

No...no....no.....no..! You are never, ever "finished" working on a scale model.....you just stop working on it..... :D
Johno, it looks fabulous!!! There are lots of areas where the detail and care really show through, and gosh, it is sure refreshing to see one that is done up something other than a US scheme! You should be really proud of that project, and I hope you have many touch and goes with that one!! |

well I ran the engine up on the test stand on sunday and all went well. Managed to obtain a meager very steady idle with the glow driver off of 1400 rpm and 1900 with it on; excellent transition and a top end with a 22X8 prop of just 7000 rpm...again exactly where it should be. It seems my exhaust ring worked the way it's supposed to.Technopower said I should be able to obtain an idle of about 1200 rpm when it's completely broke in.I managed to run 3 tanks thru it with very good results so now it's time to mount it in the plane and get that puppy in the air. I'll post the day I decide to pick which will certainly be a sunday I just dont know which one yet. I just hope that all the positive support I received from my friends is backed up with a good maiden flight. _________________ JLDY |

[ glowing flight [/quote]
I hope that doesn't mean in flames.
Knowing John as I do (which is not very well) the maiden will go VERY nicely. I was there for the last running of the motor...very impressive.......................................... for a (gag, gag,) glow motor oil all over the place. Took him a hour to clean it up!!!
Let us know when John....o, we'll be there to cheer you on.
Dave. |
